Serving humanity by serving the environment

Humanibees:
The Full Story
The Pandemic was a dark period of time in our world's history. Along with the suffering and death that many experienced, it also created so much division within the world, within our country, within our communities, and sometimes within certain families. As often with difficult times, sprouts of hope and promise of a better day come forth. That's exactly what happened with the Dietz family as we spent many hours together as a result of the shelter-in-place mandate. These dynamics are what led to the inception of Humanibees.

We saw the ravages of isolation and depression. We saw the irrationality of product shortages and the dependency on questionable commercial sources for our sustainability. But most of all, we saw an indiscriminate pandemic show no mercy on our most vulnerable members of the human race. That was the Dietz family's call to action that we needed to do something; thus the inception of Humanibees.
Humanibees is an organization that:
Provides financial support along with experiential opportunities for broken families in crisis through the St. Anne's Place partnership
Supports the environment with a robust bee apiary that supplements the bee population, enhances pollination of critical crops within the local area
Supplies a high quality honey product to the consumer that is locally grown, ethically produced, and 100% of the revenue supports St. Anne's Place

We hope our story not only motivates you to support Humanibees and all of its endeavors, but we also hope our story motivates you personally to ask yourself, "What can I directly do to make this world a better place?" We can assure you that the joy you will feel in your heart will multiply as you see your actions providing good to this world!

St. Anne’s Place emergency shelter provides private family bedrooms and shared bathrooms, as well as personal care items, clothing and basic necessities, and meals and snacks for up to 16 families each night. Our secured building is staffed 24 hours a day for the safety and security of our guests. Upon arrival, families meet with the St. Anne’s Place team to help determine their immediate needs and each mother’s and child’s barriers to achieving their goals. Staff collaborates to provide coordinated services for each member of every family. The Family Services Coordinator assesses family needs and coordinates resources and services for families, including housing and employment searches, life skills training, chemical health support, legal support, mental health support, and overall family health and wellness. Our Children’s Coordinator facilitates children’s intakes, assessments, and case management; coordinates communication between families and schools/PICA (childcare); helps ensure that children at the shelter are equipped for school with school supplies, uniforms, etc.; and leads indoor, outdoor and off-site children’s activities.

St. Anne's Place emergency family shelter is one program at Haven Housing. We also operate supportive housing for women and women-led families. We are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of families needing emergency shelter because the eviction protections during COVID have ended. Today, we are serving more than 20 families at St. Anne's Place and another 70+ households through our supportive housing communities.
